The CG is now 6 years old, it is starting to mature well: the apple trees are producing fruit, the willows we plant are nearly as tall as most house in Kemnay, the garden is producing colour thought out the year, we have a good participation in the garden (with the raise beds, mini allotments and volunteering), new mower has helped with the maintenance and we have increased visitor numbers by adding a new Boules piste.
The establishment of the Boules piste has been a big hit, with a very keen group of boulers taking part most weeks (weather permitting) and it is hope to get a team together to challenge other groups to a competition.
We have continued on holding a May Event, with this years the weather was very kind to us and turnout was the best so far. They came to be introduced to: Boule, learn how to fermenting fruit and vegetables, find out about what the energy group had been up to, chat to the bee group and community council, consume some lively food and drink and listen to a ukulele group. We had over 100 visitors to the event, who went away very happy and we look forward to doing it all again next year.
This coming year we hope to establish a path around the woodland that is adjacent to the Community Garden.
We are hoping to have a flower and produce show in September, this being the first one we are just limiting it to Greener Kemnay members. We are looking for categories for submissions, please get growing and preparing.
