Website: There has been an update of our welcome page, the path page has more information and the 2024 updates added for the Community Garden and the energy Groups but we are looking for pictures of the construction of the Bremner Way link path and if you have any please send them to Richard (lamplugh@btinternet.com).
Paths
Condition of the two paths Greener Kemnay funded:
The Dalmadilly Ponds link path needs some maintenance, we are in the process of engaging a contractor to spray the edges and also tidy up the growth close to the path. Several years ago further on towards the apiary Greener Kemnay helped Pete Brinklow do some drainage work and more is now needed on this part of the loop of Kemnay Dalmadilly Burnhervie Fetternear.
Bremner Way link path was built in 2016, this popular path connecting the bus stop near the school with the path that leads down to the river. This path was severed by the new bus park, leaving only a small amount of the existing path and what was left was not in the best of state. We had hoped that this path would be incorporated into the plans of the new bus park but this did not happen. We asked the council at least to put a new surface on to the path, to their credit they have added some grit but the edges are left rough and the grass to the road is scruffy. Hopefully when the growing season starts this will improve or another solution can be found.
Community Garden
Activities Day: (taken from Muriel’s WhatsApp) which is on Saturday 8th, we will be there from 10 and it looks like a decent day is forecast so I hope as many volunteers as possible can come along to the garden. Hopefully the oaks will be planted in the woodland area and we need to do some work on the section of the fence that has come down. Other jobs are to clear the area on the garden side of the fence, it’s rather overgrown and of course there is always removing the weeds from the path.
And hopefully time to wander round the garden and see if spring is coming. The polyanthus have been uncovered from the blanket of dead crocosmia leaves, perhaps the hellebore will be in flower and hopefully the few snowdrops we have can be seen. Those planted in the roundel on the way to the garden are doing well.
I cleared a bit of my own garden in the sun this afternoon and it was wonderful to see the snowdrops and primulas in flower.
